How Twitter became more than an intern communication tool


The first tweet ever publicated wasn't very historical.

Back on march 2006.
Jack Dorsey just wrote about an appointment with his collegues, the kind of thing that basically no one cares about.
He is an enterpreneur who created « Blogger » and sent it to Google, and he is the one who created Twitter as well.

In 5 years, he transformed an intern communication tool into a world communication network.

After that first basic « tweet », many others tweets became more and more interesting, and in november 2008, the influence of Twitter became undeniable when Bombay’s terrorist attack is revealed on Twitter before any other media.
In january 2009, Janie Krums wrote on Twitter « From where I am, I can see a plane on the Hudson river» He was talking about the US Airway’s landing on the sea in New-york, and once again, Twitter was the first support where it was announced.
Many others events like Michael Jackson’s death or Iran’s riots were made known by Twitter.

Each week, one billion messages.

Everyday, 460 000 accounts created.

Twitter reunites 200 millions users.

This « audience-magnet » draws investors. Indeed, the more famous and successful a company is, the more interesting it becomes for the financial channel.

In december 2010 for the last fund raising, Twitter was estimated at 3,7 billions dollars. Its valorisation overruns nowadays 7 billions dollars.

And moreover, estimations bet on a three times over receipt this year.
